Job description
Our client, a shop recognized as an alternative to dealerships for heavy truck fleet maintenance, is looking for a team lead mechanic to supervise the evening shift in its 8-bay workshop. The person we're looking for will act as the leader of the evening team (3-4 employees) while personally performing general mechanical work on heavy vehicles and trailers. A key position, with strong potential for advancement within a growing company.
About the workshop
Specializing in heavy truck fleet maintenance, the workshop offers full service: PEP inspections, diagnostics and repair of fault codes (engine, cab, ABS, transmission), collision repair, and maintenance of DPF, SCR, and DEF systems. Recognized by its clients for dealership-quality service at a more affordable cost, with fast and professional service.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of 3 to 4 mechanics during the evening shift
- Perform general mechanical work on heavy vehicles and trailers (braking, air systems, preventive maintenance)
- Diagnose and resolve common mechanical issues
- Ensure quality of work performed by the team and compliance with shop standards
- Manage priorities according to the workflow of the garage's 8 bays
- Collaborate with management on work organization and file follow-up
Criteria
Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in heavy vehicle mechanics
- Supervisory experience or ability to lead a small team
- Good knowledge of brake and air/pneumatic systems
- PEP card an asset (no SAAQ inspections required)
- Autonomy, sense of responsibility, and natural leadership
Schedule
- Monday to Thursday: 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Friday: 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM
- 5 days/week, evening shift, non-unionized
- Paid lunch breaks (42.5 hours/week, including 2.5 hours of overtime)
- Occasional overtime as needed
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $37 to $43/hour based on experience
- Work boots provided (up to $250)
- Expense account program (approximately $500/year)
- 3 to 4 weeks of vacation based on experience
- Sick days + paid statutory holidays
