Job description
Our client is a well-established Quebec-based manufacturing company (approximately $12 million in revenue, ~25 employees) specializing in the assembly of mechanical components for industrial lifting equipment. The organization is distinguished by a collaborative culture, a people-oriented environment, and agile operational management typical of SMEs.
To support its growth and strengthen its administrative structure, the company is seeking a Financial Controller – CPA who will oversee accounting operations, support management in financial analyses and take charge of part of the HR activities.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
Supervise an internal resource who performs the complete accounting cycle (invoicing, payables/receivables, reconciliations, disbursements)
Review, validate and optimize accounting processes
Intervene directly on certain tasks when necessary (customer credit, inventory adjustment, supplier invoice, payroll — particularly to provide backup during team vacation periods)
Supervise payroll (Netris) and act as a point of contact for internal matters
Performing weekly cash flow monitoring is essential due to international imports.
Prepare month-end reports, internal financial reports, and manage the annual budgeting process.
Manage customer credit, cash receipts and credit limits
Administratively monitor the supply chain: receiving stock, purchase orders, disbursements
Prepare and submit corporate reports required by the international headquarters.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Support
Produce analyses: margins, profitability, sectors, operational trends
Prepare dashboards and decision-making reports for the board of directors and investors (quarterly reporting)
Participate in the evaluation of investments, improvement projects and grant applications
Contribute to management meetings and influence strategic decisions
Human Resources
Manage internal administrative recruitment and coordinate recruitment mandates for production with external firms
Managing onboarding, job offers, documentation, and disciplinary follow-ups
Oversee payroll and benefits, and ensure follow-up on CNESST/disability claims, including the implementation and monitoring of workplace harassment files.
Supporting managers in their daily HR challenges
Fostering a positive work environment and leading recognition initiatives
International coordination
To ensure administrative and financial liaison with the head office located abroad
Meeting corporate reporting requirements
Communicate regularly in English (required level: 7/10)
Criteria
CPA designation required
Significant experience in SMEs in a combined accounting and HR role, with team supervision
Good knowledge of Canadian accounting laws and standards, as well as Bill 96 (Frenchification of businesses)
Excellent analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, searches, analyses)
Rigour, autonomy, sense of priorities and strong business acumen
Human leadership, empathy, and the ability to support a team in a context of growth and transition
Knowledge of ERP systems such as Sage 300: a significant asset
Advanced functional English (7/10) for interacting with international partners
